INTRODUCING PETER INFELD STRINGS...
JULY 2011
'Peter Infeld' is the name of two new sets of synthetic cored strings from Thomastik, offering (to quote the maker) “well balanced overall tonal delivery, flexible enough to fit into most orchestral settings”.
The PI100 set features synthetic cored G,D and A strings, with silver windings for the G and D and aluminium winding for the A. The E string is platinum plated chrome steel, the first of this type on the market.
Thomastik says that the set produces “an aesthetic sound with substantial warm, powerful and clear content. The feeling under the fingers is remarkably soft. Platinum is a superb material that not only delivers a rich tone, but is also resistant to corrosion so remains smooth on the surface and is a biocompatible material that causes no allergic reactions.”
The PI101 differs by having a tin plated chrome steel E offering powerful and focused tonal qualities.
As you'd expect, a platinum plated E string costs more than a tin plated one. In this case, around £15 more. So the PI100 set (with platinum E) is £86.72 while the PI101 set (with tin E) is £70.97. These prices place the Peter Infelds alongside Pirastro string sets such as Evah Pirazzi or Olive, so as an incentive our suppliers are offering a full refund of your purchase price (proof of purchase necessary), if you are not completely satisfied once you've tried these new strings. But you must return them within 14 days.
To try them, click here. You will have to make your choice of either platinum or tin plated E to make up your preferred set. The refund offer is for a complete set (G,D,A and your one type of E), not the individual strings.
