Andrea rosin is gripping stuff...
14th July 2009
We are delighted to be able to put Andrea rosins back on the menu for violin or viola at £23.50 and cello at £25.00. Formerly known as Tartini, these rosins only need a small amount applied to the bow to achieve good grip. They're not cheap but responses from customers have all been good and it lasts for ages.
The recipe for Andrea rosin is similar to that of rosin found in a 17th century violin case by the
Korean violinist and violin maker
Andrea Bang. Mr. Bang was so impressed by the antique rosin's tonal quality and feel that he travelled all around the Mediterranean to source the ingredients and developed his own version. Until 2002 this rosin was only offered to a few privileged performers. (The only element missing from this charming story is a wicked villain who tries to thwart Mr. Bang's progress but gets his come-uppance in the end...)
The rosin can be used sparingly, with 3 or 4 swipes of the bow being sufficient. As the price is on the high side, we will be taking orders for these products rather than keeping them in stock. Delivery will take 2 to 3 days from the point of order (supplier stock allowing) and we'll charge £2.30 p&p. Just call on 01462 426012 to place an order..
