For playability and the best possible sound quality, most instruments need to be set-up by a qualified luthier who will adjust the bridge, the soundpost, the saddle, the fingerboard and the pegs so that the instrument performs to its full potential.

We offer two levels of set-up: the professional set-up and the student set-up. The professional set-up uses a fully professionally cut bridge which is carefully crafted to enhance the tone and playability of the instrument. A student set-up has a more basic bridge, designed for playability and durability.

The soundpost can have a significant effect upon the tone, balance and power of your instrument. When fitting a new soundpost, we include one adjustment in the price so that we can tailor its position and tension to enhance your instrument to suit your individual playing style.

Fingerboards may need shooting and reshaping every few years, depending on how much they're played. Enthusiastic players, and those who practice frequently, will wear a pattern of grooves and dishes into their fingerboard which can create intonation problems, and potentially cause buzzes. Shooting the fingerboard will restore it to its optimum form for playability and accurate intonation.

Our restorers can assess your instrument and advise you on its current condition.
